New Delhi : Indian Television Mythologica Series Ramayan has become the most-watched Mythological series in the world and has broken the viewership records globally. Doordarshan India, on 30th April, announced through twitter that a massive 7.7 Crore viewers watched the series on 16th April during its 9 pm telecast, registering the world-record for viewership globally at a time, for any TV show.
The series Ramayan is being re-televised on Doordarshan during India’s current lockdown period. It was initially aired during 1987 and 1988 and was created and directed by Ramanand Sagar. The series is adapted and based on the ancient Hindu epic Valmiki’s Ramayan and Tulsidas’ Ramcharitamanas versions of Ramayan.

It is interesting to note that even during the initial telecasting of the series, it had gained immense popularity and has its name on the Limca Book of Records for the world’s most-watched mythological series back then.
